WE ARE NOT ALONE !

Just recently I had occasion to be seated on my couch with my lovely wife, when a furry thing appeared to the left of our tv and crawled over a few things on the floor and took an "exit stage left even". A tiny little rodent had managed to crawl through a vent in the wall much to my amazement. So stunned for words I managed to squeeze out "diiiiiid you see that ?" to which Di managed to squeeze out "yeeeeeeeeees", with eyes wide open and a stunned look on her face.

You see we were not afraid of the mouse well at least I wasn’t, however I was shocked that a mouse, a disease carrying rodent had had the audacity to make an appearance in my castle. A castle which up till this point I had felt was impenetrable. We have not seen any mice in this house since we got here two and a half years ago. I didnt even think they had mice out here in this new community ! Certainly in some of the other older more established communities of Perth I have lived in, you would have expected mice but not here in Ellenbrook.

Its funny isn’t it that you think you're all alone in your house, to discover unwanted and uninvited guests. Got me thinking about God and how He will never turn up uninvited. In fact the book of Revelation tells us that Christ stands at the door and knocks and that anyone who hears and opens the door, He will come in and share with them. I know this is a silly mouse story however it has given me occasion to reflect on the uninvasive nature of God. Here's the punchline of my story - The fact is He will never force his way into your house or your life. He will always wait for an invitation to be invited in as a guest.

God is not looking for manufactured clones, which I believe he would have if he did force himself on people, however he is looking for people who's hearts are tender and those who have gladly and willingly decided to invite him into their lives. Jesus said my sheep hear my voice, in other words what this means is that people who understand and recognise that Jesus is the son of God will invite him into their lives. Because they recognise that what God has to offer is not pretend, it’s not fake and it’s the real deal.

Although this gives us a nice fuzzy feeling knowing that its up to us to decide to open the door to uninvited guests, Jesus will not continue to knock forever as we are told there will come and end point to history.

Now is the time to open the door and now is the time to invite him in. I can guarantee you one thing, you will never be disappointed. I want to finish with a verse which has been rattling around in my cage all last week. "Taste and see that the Lord is good" Psalm 34:8

May God bless you.
